Richard A. Norling
Rick Norling is a broadly experienced healthcare executive who led large integrated systems of hospitals in Los Angeles and Minnesota, and served on many Boards over his career. He was instrumental in bringing three leading regional companies together to form Premier, Inc., the nation’s leading GPO, and later served as its CEO. Under his leadership, Premier was the recipient of the 2006 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He later turned his attention to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). He has served on many corporate boards such as PacifiCare Health System, Blue Cross of California, Express Scripts, Inc. and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach. Rick earned masters degrees in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota and in Systems Engineering from the University of Arizona. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at IHI and on the boards of several other companies. He is a key contributor to Tagnos, Inc. with his expertise in quality, systems and strategic business decisions to better serve the healthcare providers on this evolving technology.
Jean Balgrosky, MPH, RHIA
Until recently, Jean was Senior Vice President and CIO at Scripps Health in San Diego, California. At Scripps, she created and implemented an innovative IT Plan, focusing on integrating, enhancing, standardizing and consolidating the information technology and systems. She came to Scripps from Holy Cross Health System. Jean has authored many articles and speaks frequently at national healthcare professional society meetings. She earned her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude (1974) and master’s degree (1981) both from UCLA School of Public Health and plans to complete her studies and research for a Ph.D. in Public Health – Health Services, with a specialization in management information systems, also from UCLA. She has been accredited by AHIMA as a registered health information administrator since 1975.
Gerry is the former CEO of Pyxis Corporation, EDiX and IntelliDOT, where he was also co-founder. He has more than 25 years of healthcare executive management experience and has focused on early-stage companies for the past 20 years. He is a director of IntelliDOT and Osayso, an Internet start-up company.
Ruth advises Tagnos regarding informational requirements for on-duty hospital staff. She is Director of Patient Care Services Informatics at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), a position she has held for the last ten years. During this time, CHOC has successfully implemented electronic clinical documentation for all the disciplines in patient care services and has gone live with computerized physician order entry. CHOC has over 97% of orders entered by providers, an integrated pharmacy system, and an electronic medication administration record with Positive Patient ID. The hospital’s perioperative documentation including anesthesia, emergency department documentation, and ambulatory clinic documentation. Ruth’s background includes over 30 years in nursing in positions ranging from staff nurse to chief nursing officer. She is a Registered Nurse and has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Jai P. Bhagat
Jai is a long time pioneer in wireless communications. He currently serves as Director or Advisor with several companies in the wireless and wireless healthcare sectors including eMedOnline, Tagnos, Haystack Technologies, and Owaves. For over ten years Mr. Bhagat was a Director and Vice Chairman of Axesstel, Inc. (AMEX: AFT), a developer of fixed-wireless voice and data products for the worldwide telecommunications market. Previously, he was a co-founder of SkyTel Communications, Inc., where he served as Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer prior to SkyTel’s merger with MCI. He was inducted into the RCR Wireless Hall of Fame in 2002 for his significant contributions to the wireless industry. Past industry awards include the PCIA Chairman’s Award, the Radio Club Sarnoff Citation, PCIA’s Technology and Innovation of the Year, and RCR’s Personality of the Year. Jai received an M.S.in Electrical.Engineering from Howard University, a B.S. in electrical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India, and completed the Executive Management program at Stanford University.

Eve Kurtin – Director
Eve Kurtin, Pharm.D. has over 30 years experience as an operating executive and investor in healthcare. Dr. Kurtin is Founding Managing Director at Pacific Venture Group (PVG), a healthcare venture capital company that invests in all sectors of healthcare, including Healthcare Information Technology, Biotechnology, Medical Devices and Healthcare Services. Dr.Kurtin is also currently a Senior Advisor to HealthBox, a healthcare accelerator and investment fund. Dr. Kurtin is the independent board member of the boards of Executive ER, LLC and Bruin Biometrics,LLC. She was the founder and CEO of Physician Venture Management, a joint venture of UniHealth and Columbia/HCA, which developed and operated physician networks nationwide. Dr. Kurtin is involved and supportive of non-profit and community based organizations, as such she serves on the Board of Partners in Care Foundation as immediate past Chair. She is on board of The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which oversees the 24 approved medical specialty boards in the development and use of standards in the ongoing evaluation and certification of physicians, she is also a Regent for the University of Pacific, and recently accepted being on the board of the ABMS Research and Educational Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Kurtin is the chair of the Koreh LA project for Los Angeles Jewish Federation, and a past President of Stephen S Wise Temple. She is the on the National Council of American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and is its political chair for Southern California. Dr. Kurtin is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (MBA) and the University of Pacific (Pharm.D).
Neeraj Bhavani – CEO and Director
Neeraj founded Tagnos and oversees the strategic vision for the company. He has over 20 years of experience in healthcare informatics and workflow orchestration. He is a recognized expert in wireless healthcare and workflow automation – holds few patents in the space. Neeraj has served as Sponsorship Chair on the board of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Southern California Chapter and served as co-Chair for EvoNexus IoT group. Neeraj is also past President of TiE(The Indus Entrepreneurs) SoCal chapter where he founded a virtual incubator called TiE SoCal Labs. Prior to founding Tagnos, he served in management consulting and IT leadership roles at Kaiser Permanente, IBM, Amgen, Blue Shield and THQ Wireless. Neeraj earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from BITS Pilani (India) and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management with an emphasis in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
Yash Hemaraj – Director
Yash Hemaraj is a venture capital investor at Benhamou Global Ventures. Prior to BGV, Yash was one of the first engineers at SpiderCloud Wireless, a venture backed bay area startup building indoor wireless systems. He architected key components of the product, innovated on 4 patents on indoor wireless systems and managed the 3G line of products as the product manager. At BGV, his focus areas are cloud technologies; virtual and software defined networking; productivity-based applications; cyber security, mobility and the Internet of Things – primarily those that drive the digital transformation of enterprises. He regularly advises entrepreneurs in multiple aspects of startups, including fundraising, go-to-market strategy and product development and is a mentor at various accelerators such as the 1871 in Chicago. He graduated with a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, MS in Electrical Engineering from the A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland and BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Suratkal. He is also a fellow of the Startup Leadership Program, Silicon Valley and has been board member at various non-profit organizations.
Howard Ko – Director
Howard is primarily focused on sourcing new investments and working with portfolio companies. He currently serves on the Board of Champion Technology Company. Howard was previously with Mission Ventures, a leading Southern California venture capital firm focused on software and semiconductor investments. Prior to Mission, he was with Salomon Smith Barney in their Technology Investment Banking Group where he was involved with public and private financings and M&A. Howard has also served as co-chair of the San Diego Telecom Council Wireless Infrastructure Group. He was a member of the Board of Reviewers for the San Diego based Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology, an organization funded by the Department of Defense. Howard holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Satveer Thakral – Director
Satveer Thakral represents the Singapore Angel Network(SGAN) on the board of Tagnos. SGAN is part of the Thakral Group of Companies, which is headquartered in Singapore, operates in 36 countries and hires more than 20,000 employees. Satveer has experience working across a multiple of these industries such as yarn manufacturing and real estate development in various countries. Satveer has graduated from the University of Virginia (UVa) with distinctions, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Uva’s McIntire School of Commerce (Finance & Management), along with a major in Psychology and a minor in Leadership.
