Happy National Hospital Week from TAGNOS!

Running from May 12-18, National Hospital Week 2019 celebrates hope and healing, and the hospitals, health systems, and the women and men who support the health and well-being of their communities through dedication and care from the heart.

Led by the American Hospital Association (AHA) whose sole mission has been to advance healthcare in America since 1898, the AHA provides education for health care leaders and is a source of information on healthcare issues and trends.  Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.  While most people don’t associate hospitals with joyous moments, hospitals are certainly a center of excellence within our country – they are places at our disposal and at our service during times of need.  We are thankful for them.  After all, a hospital never closes; it's available 24/7 to provide care and is home to 16.5 million jobs across the United States.

Hope and Healing: Always on Display

This week provides us with an opportunity to celebrate and thank all of the dedicated individuals – physicians, nurses, therapists, engineers, food service workers, volunteers, administrators and so many more – for all their contributions.  Every day, in hospitals and health systems across the country, two things are always on display: hope and healing. Hospitals rely on their workforce to help reshape the way in which patient care is delivered, while maintaining the highest possible quality of care.

Hospital care goes beyond their four walls – oftentimes Hospital teams extend a helping hand into the communities around them.  We love this 2:47-minute video from AHA on some of the work hospitals do to connect with their patients. Titled Hospitals Open Doors, it details how hospital doors are always open to help communities in many ways, including opening their doors to continue their healing work towards healthier communities.

Get Involved: #MyHospital Twitter Chat

In the effort to continue to propel the idea of hope and healing, the AHA will be hosting a Twitter Chat on Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 am ET to honor and discuss the ways that hospital employees provide hope and healing to their patients and communities.

Collaboration in Hospitals Enables Hope and Healing

According to an AHA FutureScan Report, 7 in 10 hospitals and health systems will increase collaboration over the next five years to improve clinical outcomes. We’re excited to see a shift from siloed value-based care into the development of more collaborative affiliations.

Collaboration is a topic that is at the heart of what TAGNOS does.

We believe it is a key element that drives positive outcomes and metrics hospitals are measured against – patient satisfaction scores, revenue streams and other operational efficiency metrics.  Bringing together care delivery and ancillary team members (e.g., Transporters, housekeeping) under one communication and collaboration platform enabled one of TAGNOS’ client hospitals to reduce their room turnover times by 9.7%.

That is more than just a number – it reflects the sharing of timely critical patient information that is automatically relayed to staff and family members for peace of mind.  It is improved throughput which means patients’ and their schedules are more likely to run-on-time, and has even resulted in a higher level of job satisfaction with hospital team members because they have transparency into key events related to patient movements.

When we think about this week’s theme of ‘hope and healing’, providing our care delivery and ancillary support teams with tools that enable them to automate their workflows, creates a better opportunity for these leaders to deliver hope and healing to their patients.

From all of us at TAGNOS, we wish you Happy National Hospital Week!
